2014 US Masters Predictions & Odds

April 8, 2013 Posted in Uncategorized by No Comments

The 2014 US Masters is this week at the Augusta National Golf Club. Tiger Woods is favoured to win the event, but we’re out in the market for the value. In this preview we’ll select our 2014 US Masters predictions based on recent trends at Augusta.

You want to bet on a golfer that has experience at Augusta, but not necessarily one that has had success on the course. Avoid betting on an Aussie or European and select a golfer that is between the ages of 25-39 if you want to follow recent trends.

Augusta is a Par 72 (7435 Yards) course, but it plays even longer due to the way the course is set-up. Apart from the profile that I outlined above you also want to make sure that you select golfers with a big drive, as that has proven to be important.

2014 US Masters Betting Tips

The profile that I’ve outlined above knocks the betting favourites off my list of contenders. Tiger Woods (4.50) is currently the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour this season, as he has three wins already and took over the #1 spot in the world rankings.

Rory McIlroy (9.00) finished in 2nd place at the 2014 Texas Open this past weekend. He had a chance to win the green jacket back in 2011, but he blew a lead in the last round. McIlroy has struggled immensely this season, but his form appears to be better now.

Phil Mickelson (12.00) and Justin Rose (21.00) both don’t meet the criteria I outlined above. There are only nine golfers that met the ideal profile above and I’ve narrowed my selections down to the two golfers that I feel have the best shot to win this week.

The best odds this week on Dustin Johnson to win the 2014 US Masters is at Paddy Power (34.00) plus Paddies is running a great promotion where they’re paying out T6 in the E/W market. Johnson seems to have recovered from his poor run of form.

Johnson opened the 2014 season with a victory, but he then ran into some terrible form. Johnson had a great March though and is heading into the US Masters in good form. Johnson is also ranked 5th in driving distance and 89th in putting average this year.

Charl Schwartzel also meets the profile I outlined above and his form has been fairly consistent this season. Schwartzel has had an average finish of 16.6th place in PGA tournaments and an average finish of 3rd place in European tournaments this season.

Schwartzel is ranked 14th in driving distance and 39th in overall putting average. He should be amongst the top drivers in the field and if his putting is solid this week he could win his 1st tournament of the year at the 2014 US Masters in Augusta.
