PokerStars Android App

PokerStars Mobile, an unique feature rich multi-tabling mobile poker app is now available in the UK. United Kingdom is the second market where the app is released, after it was succesfully launched in Italy before. PokerStars Mobile seems to be finally bringing the same poker playing experience to your mobile as you are used to when playing from a PC. It has many of the same features as the normal PokerStars PC client. Some of the features included are: different poker variations from Texas to Omaha, multi-tabling, sit n’ go’s, all the same multi table tournaments as on PC, chat and hand histories. You can play against players from all over the world on the biggest poker network online, in many different devices.

When PokerStars Mobile was first released in Italy it was only playable on an Apple iOS. But now it’s fully compatible with Android Devices and there is an Android version of the app for download. The first version is optimized for Smartphone screens and resolutions, but it is also playable on a Tablet. The Android Poker App is not yet available on the Android Market due to Google’s strict policy on gambling. Android users can download the app directly from a PokerStars Mobile site.

Jeffrey Haas, PokerStars Director of new platforms had this to say on the day of the launch:

“It’s an intentional product designed specifically for the form factors of mobile and tablet devices, and the different ways people play games on them. This is the best authentic poker experience available for mobile devices today.”

“PokerStars Mobile is more than just the migration of the existing PokerStars game product to the mobile platform,”

PokerStars started to venture in mobile gaming after they purchased Cecure Company, a mobile gaming specialist, in June 2010. After over an year in development their mobile gaming apps are now hitting the markets. Apple has been very strict on their gambling policies before and real money gaming apps weren’t allowed in iTunes Market. But iTunes is now opening up for gambling apps and this gives poker companies such as PokerStars a huge market area where they can reach new poker players.

As PokerStars is now targeting the European Markets they have also acquired an EU License. On February 10th they announced the securing of a Malta Remote Gaming License and the launch of www.PokerStars.eu. This license gives PokerStars the ability to offer enchanced service to their European players. First countries to benefit from the new license are Finland and Sweden. From now on Finnish and Swedish poker players can enjoy all of their PokerStars gaming tax-free.
