The Alumni System: A Household Affair. At USC, our alumni network can be so strong so tight-knit… therefore unique… that we have even a special title because of it: The Trojan Family.

You’ve undoubtedly heard about the Trojan Family, or at least some reference to it. Yet it’s hard to truly understand the real ways the Trojan Family manifests itself without actually experiencing it first-hand. Here, I shall do my best to provide you with a feeling of what it is all about.

For starters, we’re BIG, with over 300,000 living alumni global. Wherever you determine to settle, there will be a group of Trojans there to support both your expert and pursuits that are personal. There are over 100 alumni organizations in major urban centers all over the world that host networking events, local faculty presentations, and USC game-watching parties, simply to name a few. USC is an university with numerous research opportunities, a rich campus life and an interdisciplinary method of training enabling students to pursue disparate scholastic passions. Students have the ability to access these internship possibilities through several avenues on campus. They can read about an internship through a teacher, a classmate, or by approaching the career center within their departments that are respective. Every you are surrounded by students from countries all over the world day. I currently live with four other students from Latin backgrounds, which includes allowed me for more information about Panamanian tradition, Guatemalan tradition, etc. As a continuing business student, we now have plenty of relationship with our classmates. The other day in my Macroeconomics course, there was clearly a lady from Dubai in my group, that has been helpful because she managed to bring first-hand knowledge about the United Arab Emirates’ economy. Having other international students around is also good because we can help each other with paperwork, finding internships, and other logistical things like that. You meet so many individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds; it really opens up the entire world for you.

Having students at USC from all over the globe adds to both the academic and social experiences of all students. Kristen Chang, an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission and an alumna of the University, describes her positive experience:

In a day that is single my morning would be invested at my on-campus work with my coworker from Dubai; my afternoon was in a conversation section with my classmate from Melbourne; in the evening I might hit the Lyon Center with my workout buddy from Munich; We would then eat dinner with my roommate who was simply from Japan. Quite simply, We would travel the globe per day, and these encounters only enriched my time spent at USC by permitting me personally to have different cultures and perspectives to which I may not have otherwise been exposed.
