Software
Sky Poker can be played with browser web app or by downloading the desktop client. The software is same both as on downloaded version and as an instant play on your web browser. Sky Poker instant play on browser uses Java and it can be played on mobile that is Java compatible. Table graphics are clear and there are good betting buttons for some of the most used bets and raises (bet ½pot, bet ¾ pot etc.).
Some of the options supported are four-colour deck, notes on opponents, hand history and avatars. Avatars are pre-defined and there are many of them for you to choose from. At the moment skypoker doesn’t support any tracker software.
Activity
This is a big site and there is always plenty of action available. Usually there are couple of thousand players online. The peak hours seem to be evenings and weekends, but there are so many players here that you are sure to find games at any given time.
Competition
Sky is not the hardest places to win, that’s for sure. That is at least at low and mid stakes cash, even more at the TV Cash tables. Because Sky is browser and even TV Remote playable in UK and some of the games are shown on TV the site will attract many recreational players. And since it doesn’t offer rakeback and tracker softwares don’t work the tables aren’t filled with multi-tabling pro players. You will definitely see many crazy moves and some loose calls here, at both the cash games and tournaments.
Tournaments
Sky poker offer many weekly and daily guaranteed prize pool tournaments. Some of the tournaments are even shown on sky tv channels. There is something for everyone and every bankroll as the tournaments buy-ins start from 2.2£ to the biggest weekly Sunday Roller with 220£ buy-in.
Some special tournees offered are:
- Bounty Hunters
Part of the buy-in goes for the price of eliminating players from the tournament. - Survivor Series
